EE has 21,000 new jobs being added in a ten year period. That is 2,100 jobs a year. Then when you take into account that the field stagnated for a couple years (used to have negative growth) there's a queue built up which will still make finding working nearly impossible for most.

8% job growth for ChemE means 2,500 jobs in ten years. Don't act like that's impressive, that's suicide tier.

9% for MechEng means 25,300 new jobs. Not that great but when you consider MechEng's can weasel themselves in other industries its far better then other two. so there is a huge difference.

>> No.9559859

In hindsight I think its better to move math to mid tier. The educational value you get might be pretty decent but its not really applicable and most math majors end up as teachers. That's not really prestigious. At the PhD level I'd say its probably God tier but at undergrad level its just mid tier. Not really worth majoring unless you want to be a teacher or go to grad school.

If you don't believe me you're more then welcome to make a thread asking people if they've been able to find employment on their field. ChemE and EEs struggle to find work. Mainly ChemE's. The problem is the other kind of work ChemEs can do is also pretty scarce. EE is not as bad but from the EE's I know they haven't been too lucky in finding work. Some settled for technician jobs.

Hell I was a ChemE major until I asked around and found how hard it was to find work. Good thing I switched.

You have no clue how much I would love to do that. Where do you live? I live in California and there are barely any jobs for ChemE here.
