Can you tell me what you love about it?
I need a new perspective

I can, I really can. There are perspectives on statistics that make it as magic as theoretical physics, you never learn about it at school. But I won't tell you what it is. Everyone hates stats, so people would barely look into any stats more than the few credits they have to. By just spending a few years solely on this topic, you are basically a magician to everyone and everyone wants to hire/ work with you, even if your grades and papers are meh. Not going to destroy that situation.

Become a brainlet so it becomes more interesting.
Conversely if you are an ultra-brainlet become smarter so that you can understand what's going on.

I've had two statistics courses (biofag here). The first one was a confusing mumbo jumbo of tests. The second actually properly introduced random variables, ML estimation etc. and was way more useful and motivating.

stats phd guy here. Prof in theoretical physics (he's working in QM) and postdoc in particle physics always ask me for help. Stats is not just calculating the arithmetic mean.

they also ask for comp sci to run their programs, that doesn't mean anything. Unless you're saying you help them in their own field

helping someone in theoretical QM with stats and ML is basically helping him in his own field.

Look for interesting topics that apply statistical techniques: Mathematical statistics, Times series, multivariate analysis, Risk Anaylsis, Econometrics, Machine learning etc

Thank you...that ignorance triggered an aspie fit so I couldn't point it out myself.

yeah, sometimes you need to find the median and plot diagrams

Call it Data Science,
"Data Science" sounds more fun and exciting.
