I guess using linked flip-flops would be a better way of doing it, I just don't know much about flip-flops so I tried to fudge my own way there. I had in mind a self-contained device with an In and an Out wire in addition to a Clock wire, requiring the Clock input to be powered in order to set the bit.

I redid my action potential and put it in .gif form.

This is <span class="math">kinda[/spoiler] how your neurons (and various other AP generating cells) work. It's like a wave of ion channels (granted you also have pumps, and the ion channels deactivate after a given time).

My ultimate attempt at death-torch. Combines hot nuclear waste, gas and nitro. Pumping walls within chamber ensure proper mixing of gas and nuclear waste.
Firing sequence:
1:Open "main" and let pressure inside primary chamber drop.
2.Open 'main' condensation of gas into oil will occur at the back of primary chamber and back to gas again in secondary.
3.Open 'nitro' Nitro will mix with gas and ignite at nozzle exit due to pressure, creating fire.
4.Ignite Plutonium stack with neutrons, then open 'nuke' and 'release'
5.Wait for stream of waste to form stable current in primary chamber and close 'release'.

Voila. This bitch will eat through everything- including metal. One problem is that when running at full pressure- nitro and gas stacks will ignite. Still trying to solve it by modifying nozzle shape and feed sizes.

I built a pulsating flamethrower.

Three seperate high-pressure chambers contain gas, gunpowder, and plutonium. The pressure converts the gas to oil, and the plutonium to neutrons.

The pulsating electricity from the water sends a current that releases the chambers. The change in pressure causes the oil to revert to gas, and the neutrons to set fire. Fans blow the particles into the main chamber, where a lower fan blows the fire up, lighting the gunpowder and oil, and internal fans release the flame.

Any suggestions on how to make this more powerful?
