Isn't science just as faith based as any religion?

We can't even see or hold electrons but you just need to "believe" they are real.

Same with gravity, nobody knows how it works we just have to believe in it

>> No.9531192

consider the fact that we could've called them anything but if we do certain things a certain things a certain way we'll detect these "whatevers" no matter what
so we know they exist, unless something really fucked up is going on

What the fuck are you talking about?

>We can't even see or hold electrons

They don't have dimensions or a physical "form" they are """simple""" wave-particles. As in, they are not as complex as a table or a regular object.

Humans can only "see" photons, if it isn't a photon, we can't see it at all, every single thing you see is a photon radiating off of an object because of a photon source (light source.) If a photon goes through something we can't see it and it's clear, if a photon gets absorbed and there are no photon readings in an area it appears black. Our whole perception is a creation based upon light and the other senses, but primarily light. Hearing is just detection of air-pressure waves. That's the only other useful sense to us really.

The theory of these things is based on observations that hold true.

If I can tell you the speed of gravity, I can predict how something will fall BEFORE it happens. That is what science is, being able to calculate things correctly without actually knowing the answer first. If you can do that, it's safe to say you have some understanding of what's really going on. Religion relies on the same principle, but it is never proved to the non-believers like science is...

No, you don't need to believe
There are a plethora of natural phenomena that can be explained very satisfactorily using the theory that particles like electrons exist
at this point, positing that electrons aren't real gives you a lot more holes to cover than following the current paradigm
also, you can "see" and "hold" electrons, just not in ways you understand

science can make accurate predictions about the future or possible advancements, religion has not been able to.

Unfortunately true.
The cure is to learn more about it.

You don't need to "hold" electrons in your hand to know they exist. Microscopes now can view atoms. Gravity has been explained well enough that even a moron could understand. If "science" was a faith, then it wouldn't be "science" its not an institution its a word we give to the collective of all evident knowledge

We're in a realm governed by density, buoyancy and electricity. We have 14.7 pounds of pressure on top of us, atmospheric pressure from the Troposphere. See Felix's freefall from "space", terminal velocity is variable.
