Is the universe's behavior such that it's literally impossible for anything other than those things that lie within its natural law to happen

...Or is it simply a very efficient and, as far as we've observed, perfectly working system for making it the case that its current behavior is perpetuated?

To put this another way, is the universe's behavior analogous to a jello fitting perfectly into a mold because that's all it can do, or is it more analogous to a mechanical machine being propelled to behave as it does due to internal mechanisms which are in this case just very robust, to the point where we can't even see them?

I think what you really want to know is if God exists.

Interesting way to put it but I don't think so. I guess you could say that unless the jello mold thing is the truth, then there must be a God inside the machine propelling the universe forward. But you could also say that God is the jello mold. I don't think "God" is a useful term to use here

Another related question... Is the universe being pulled forward in time like the heat death at the end of the universe is its jello mold, or is it being propelled forward by the laws of physics and the heat death of the universe is just an inevitable result no matter how you steer the ship?

Im not fucking following you OP. Ask a clear question, without jello metaphors or diverting into subquestions that dont add anything to your inquiry.

Is the universe's behavior pushed forward from behind or pulled forward from in front

What's really the difference? Seems more of an outward and/or semantic difference.
