>Calculus class is about half the size it was when we started
>85 average
>Show up every single day but have done the nightly homework maybe three times
>Spend 2 hours reading the chapter and doing practice problems the night before each test
How is this harder than high school? You memorize processes and apply them. It's the same. Why is everyone quitting

Its not the classes
Its the life stress that comes along with moving out of your parents home into a new city, not knowing anyone, frequent social isolation, frequent poverty and malnutrition, poor living spaces, etc etc.
Basically year 1 of university is "Here's how to become an adult". Also the grading is different (e.g. 25-25-50) for midterm-midterm-final rather than a bunch of smaller tests.

>Leaving parents house
Oh yes. How I'm getting by without my families' emotional reaction to everything being my problem i'll never know
>Frequent social isolation
I mean it's decent but nothing can beat the social isolation of back home
>Poverty and malnutrition
I've worked for 2 years and saved it all because I had no girl to spend it on. All my hobbies are pirated. Next
>Poor living spaces
Dorms are comfy

This place is paradise, I never go home. I don't even like calling home "home". this IS home now

>haven't taken a math class in 9 years because I joined like Army like a fucking retard
>highest math I ever took was Elementary Algebra II
>Tested into Pre-calculus I & II which is just College Algebra and Trigonometry in the same semester
>decided to take it because /sci/ convinced me anything less would make me a brainlet (plus I didn't want to wait a full year before being able to take Chemistry)
>I now have a C in the class, need a 48 on my final to get a C and pass

Please tell me having a full semester to do Calc I will be easier than having to do College Algebra and Trig in the same semester. I feel like this would have been an easy A if I had a full semester to do trig.

Other then Algebra and Trigonometry; Steward's Pre-Calculus book just covers the summation notation, binomial theorem and the introduction of a derivative.
