Why are there fossil fuels on other planets if there are no fossils on other planets?

Fossil fuels come from the anaerobic (in the absence of oxygen) decomposition of organic material over a long time scale, 10s-100s of millions of years usually. Layers and layers of sediment and soil accumulate over the material and the resulting pressure and heat transformers the material into hydrocarbons. I'm oversimplifying of course but that's the general gist of what happens. If you wanna know more ask somebody who actually has some knowledge in the field of geology, hell maybe an organic chemist too, they'll probably know more than me.
