>have to take discrete math for CS
>only professor that teaches it is garbage
>dude looks like Santa Claus dressed as a janitor and gives totally incomprehensible lectures verbatim from pic related (a garbage fucking book) and gives no fucks about how well his students do since he's retiring after this semester
>want to not fail the class so I have to teach myself

What are some good resources for teaching myself discrete math /sci/?

I've already looked around and it seems hard to find good materials because every course covers different topics.

See if it's offered in teh math department as well. It will probably be harder, but you'll get more out of it. I know that here it's like that, you can take the strictly qunatitiative CS version or the more rigorous math department version.

It's the only discrete math course they offer. They don't have a separate version for math majors since it's a small school.

Sucks to be you, look on the sites that offer free course lecture and see what they have. In high school when I needed a book for a subject I would look up that class at top schools, find the syllabus, and check out the book they use. Maybe someone on here can help you better though.

I have an exam in a few days for Discrete math too. I am using Trevtutor and Bill Shillito on youtube and doing the problems in the book myself to make sure i understand them.

I did that with the MIT Math for CompSci course but outside of the basic fundamentals, it went way more into logic and the CompSci-applicable parts of discrete while staying away from the more probability/statistics side of it.

Don't bother with discrete mathematics, it's not a real area of mathematics. Study the individual topics it covers instead, like logic, set theory, combinatorics, graph theory, etc.

But if you need something with more structure, use Knuth's Concrete Mathematics. Or if you're a brainlet, Epp.

Discrete Mathematics and its Applications by Kenneth Rosen is the book I studied from, and was really good, I'd recommend that.
