I am an Atheist, but one of the debates I can't understand, is Hermeneutics. I've researched it as much as I can, yet it still makes no sense. Can someone explain it to me? Better yet, can you explain why Christians/Catholics use this as a defense?

Watch the movie Pi, which makes reference to it. One of the examples I remember makes use of Hebrew letters, which are also their numbers, such that the adding of the numeric values for father and mother gives the numeric value for child.

Pretty much any way of reading a text besides just the literal meaning like the moral of the story or allegory or allusions or patterns or what have you. Only autistics are literal about everything.

More like "interpret these near-meaningless texts how we want them to be interpreted, what satisfies our beliefs". Same thing for canonical (academia) interpretations of philosophical and literary works. Making them more than they really are.

Your bias is showing.

He thinks Plato and Aristotle are meaningless too.

Plato is boring.
So is the book of Numbers.
Oh and anything without Swamp Thing. Unironically.

It's interpretation and that changes. Like if I said Steve and Carl docked at the peer. A few years ago that was a boat. Now it's rubbing dicks together.

im an agnostic fag and im much more interested in the fact that why do some religions belive their own to be the true one and not the others ? such a topic as why we are here and the creator is the biggest man can think of yet it has numerous answers all claiming to be the one and only right one.
