What is the primary difference, or a list of the major/important differences between mathematical physics and theoretical physics?

Rigorous math vs bullshit.

Mathematical physics actually cares about a rigorous treatment of many physical concepts that are sometimes used loosely, but correctly. If you know about the history of QM shrodinger, heisenberg and dirac made the theoretical contribution while Von Newman made the mathematical physics part. It can also be looking at a physical problem from a purely mathematical perspective and try to come with solutions using mostly math, like using the theory of PDE to solve Maxwells equations.

Theoretical physicists make hypotheses that, if confirmed by experiment, become theories. Then mathematical physicists prove mathematically that it really happened and they already knew about it because it's trivial. If the theory turns out to need to be modified, the mathematical physicists discover an error in their earlier calculations and prove that it really had to be the modified theory all along, and they could have told you so if you asked because it's trivial.

I get that you're joking but it's funny to me that some autists on here actually believe this
