The trend is clear, general education requirements are gonna be dropped inevitably so US STEM students can compete with foreign students who only take classes that have to do with their major. Since STEM is the big ticket with other majors dying then history or liberal arts majors that once could get a teaching job in some college won't have that because schools will be dropping those classes due to low class sizes. That's why shit like STEAM is being pushed by the humanities to counteract the threat of the dropping of general education requirements in uni in the US.
