Any geologists here with good knowledge in petrology? Could you help me identify this piece of rock? I'm having troubles, I think it's diabase, but those big plagioclase crystals are kinda wierd. Also I'm not sure about the dark background, is it pyroxene or not?

The other sides don't have that many big plagioclase crystals, only lath ones one is supposed to find in a rock such as diabase.

I'm a geochemistry student and i think you're right It is indeed a diabase rock

Have you taken mineralogy yet? Or at least geochemistry? You need to have a good basis i n those two subjects for petrology.

Go for it, anon. My dream is to be able to predict earthquakes, know the earth's core, make rocks with less pressure and temperature or be able to make use to the least desirable rocks.
