Is it possible for an adult to learn from elementary school basic math to last year of high school math in less than a year?
I was never good at math so instead of working harder I always avoided it and half assed it through tests and now im going to need maths to take a course.
So with this being said what are some good apps sites or books to learn math?

no, unless you want to study for hours day in day out, which will only burn you out

Anyone else in a similar situaton here?

yes
but i had the wonderful option to quit on math and learn biology/chemistry which i found more interesting.
i never was bad at math though, i just happened to not like it that much. it's a subject that doesn't interest me in any sort of way. i know math pretty well up untill trigonometry. anything beyond that is like a foreign language to me.

a pdf reader and serge lang - basic mathematics or edmund landau - analysis

Yes. High school math is retardedly easy for anyone beyond high school maturity level.

Yeah, I went from basic algebra to calculus and high school geometry in one summer. Just study everyday.

I didn't pay any attention to math in school. Failed pre-algebra the first time so had to take it again, putting me behind everyone else. Then only took algebra 1 in high school.
Then I graduated and joined the army and never once needed math so now, 9 years later I'm starting college for the first time and have to completely start from the bottom.

It's miserable. I was never good at math in the first place and now I've had 9 years to forget literally everything.
I'm studying mechanical engineering by the way so it's going to be a long and painful journey.

Why is that? I slept through high school and when I returned to college in my mid 20's it was so easy I didn't even need to think to learn it.

If a 6 year old can do it, so can you.

it's absolutely possible. That would just be algebra, trig, and a little bit of geometry.

Honestly just learn what a function is and all the properties, how to manipulate things algebraically, a little bit of factoring and graphing, and the trig functions. It's entirely possible.

HOWEVER you said you don't have much work ethic, it's possible for someone who is intelligent and hardworking to teach themselves all of this stuff, but if you're lazy and stupid it's just not going to happen.

Yes, I'm basically like OP. I get basic algebra and trigonometry (actually trig was the only part I kinda liked and understood naturally), but anything beyond that is a danger zone. Calculus (which we covered the very basics of in my last year of HS) is absolute black magic.

It was a combination of shitty teachers, shitty home environment, and laziness to force learn it because I guess I just don't have a naturally math-minded mind. I have big regrets about it because ironically shit like astrophysics or cryptography absolutely fascinate me, but I know I have no shot at it whatsoever and I can only understand it on a very superficial level.

I've heard good things about that Khan academy thing before too, but I never checked it out. Perhaps I should ditch the vidya jew and do that actually.
