/math/bros, I just knew that I got a Topology 1 test tomorrow afternoon, I haven't studied it yet, I would really really appreciate if someone can tell me just what I need to know, I heard them talking about Schwartz inequality or something, help?

triangle inequality, motherfucker

The cube fits into the square-shaped hole.

Is that General Topology? Like, the basic stuff/definitions?
Schwartz inequality is Linear Algebra...

>>9209033
oh yeah, I remember this one, thanks.
I would also appreciate a quick rundown

>>9209034
so this is topology?

Nice

It's for Maths major, I do physic but I have chosen it, until now I have seen Triangle inequality, prove a norm...

sorry if I translated it badly, I study in French

>I study in French
You're super fucked, if you're actually in France and at a decent institution.

All this stuff about norms and metrics is just the brainlet version of general topology.

Go through the basic definitions of topological space, open sets, neighbourhoods, separation axioms, continuous maps.

After that you should check up on the notion of homotopic maps and homotopy equivalent spaces. Then read up on the most important theorems.

Yeah, good luck.

We just had started, and already got a test.

I know that it's just the start and it will get complicated trough time, but I believe I can understand it in this night.

at least just encourage me m8

See this book, or find a better version of it.
No need to do first chapter(you should already know that stuff if you are doing Topology.)
Start reading chapter 2, try out few examples.
Should do fine.

The Professor sent us some exercices for the test

They are about Triple Norms and most of them about Norms

>> No.9209179

>>9209015
isnt schwartz inequality like calculus tier or something? I remember it being one of the first things I learned...

>> No.9209288

>Triple Norms
hmm, well doesn't look like you have started topology, cause it doesn't even seem that the prof introduced what a basis is.
Well assuming that you know your analysis, you should be fine.
Brush up on norms, vector spaces, inner products, continuous functions, open sets, closed sets(from analysis), compactness and connectedness, all from analysis point of view,(a bit from algebraic).
That should be it, try out the exercices sent after reading these things.
The above mentioned things are the maximum that can be there, what exactly should be read, depends.

What are triple norms?
