I posted this same post in /an/, but I'm posting here to see conflicting opinions and ideas:

I am seriously considering acquiring a pet baby crow and raising it as a human child as an experiment to see if I can, like training a muscle, maximize it's cognitive capabilities. What are /sci/'s thoughts on this?

Get a baby magpie instead and do the Alex method and watch it die from stress

as long as you don't cause physical or emotional damage to it, I don't see any harm. Quick warning; crows are social creatures. They can become sociopathic without any other individuals to interact with.

Where would I GET one though? That's of course, the first step.

Why did you translate it? What was the point? I'm actually disappointed about NOT being called a fag.

>hoping this isn't a slide thread

Look anon, I see all possibilities of life defined by two things:

1) Biological predetermination that is adjusted by:

2) Chance that dictates choices.

A mentally challenged (retard) human will ALWAYS, given the current state of science be mentally challenged. That being said, one mentally challenged human may by chance experience or "do" more in his/her life than other retards. Nevertheless, a "normal" person born with no mental challenges will more than likely experience and "do" more in the same lifetime than one million retards, given the chance that they chose to.

The sane mindset can be applied to your experiment. Surely crows are intelligent as we measure them relative to other animals, but a crow will always be a crow, and more than likely NOT exceed the expectations you have for it. If you're doing this all to play God and accelerate some evolution of an animal, boy do I have news for you....it doesn't work.

Humans were still fucking cavemen up until 400 years ago, relatively speaking, and even more so 100 years ago compared to where we are now. Crows have probably been around much longer than us. What can YOU do to see that they have some epiphany as a species?

what if you adopted a brainlet crow?

A more interesting experiment is selectively breeding crows for intelligence. Maybe, after 10 generations, you'll get talking crows.
