Is there a practical way I can prove to myself that outer space is real, or that it exists as I'm told it has?
The only direct observation I can make of space is that there is one blinding source of light, which occasionally leaves revealing many other, smaller dots of light.
The rest is all the opinions of other people, many of which are suppositions of suppositions. Can I practically demonstrate to myself that they are not wrong or lying?

Take a step back. Can you prove that external reality exists at all?

this.

otoh if op just wants some easy-to-do homemade experiment that proves the earth is floating in space as opposed to there simply being a big projector screen firmament, I dont think you can do that without significant money at your disposal

You could study and learn how to measure parallax and calculate for yourself how far away a lot of stuff is. You could study really hard and learn to calculate distance based on spectral shift.

There is not an easy brainless way to do it, other than reading a muthafuckin book.
