>Brainstorming research topics in remote sensing and geology
>Come up with a cool idea
>Look into it on google scholar
>Topic has been explored extensively, there are tons of interesting and relevant titles
>All of them are from open access journals, or scientific journals from Pakistan, India, etc.
>Have an overwhelming gut-feeling that the topic is unimportant and the results are untrustworthy because it has not been explored by American researchers.

Well, I tend to trust researches done by English speaking researchers instead of the ones done by the ones that speak my native language. But that is more related with the fact that it means they are probably from first world countries and might have taken it more seriously also that they could access a larger amount of information on the subject they researching.
