its not there to take pretty pictures, the entire camera was more of an "ok, fine, we'll put something on"-effort by NASA, seeing as it doesn't form the basis of the mission.
And since we are living in the clickbait decade, unless its delivered in stunning 4K or contains cats, the public just dont care.

On a personal note, i'm more of an Cassini-Saturn person

The camera resolution is shit, grainy as fuck images that look like the levels are all fucked up. At least they ended up putting a camera on it, originally this thing wouldn't have one at all.

Personally I think Juno should've had a Cassini-type camera, able to take good quality photos with or without color, because why not? It improves public relations, it can offer new discoveries and data, and you can fuck off if you think the few kilograms it adds would have actually made much of a difference to the mission. NASA says every kilogram counts, and they're right, but their probes aren't actually loaded out to the max, because they add in a little extra margin here and there to ensure the mission doesn't run out of maneuvering fuel early, and it ends up lasting way longer than they planned, except they sacrificed valuable experiments to do so.

Proving solar power is viable for probes out to Jupiter (and by extension Trojan asteroids) is nice though, and I'm sure it'll give us some good data on the interior structure of Jupiter.
