I really don't understand how people could possibly struggle with maths. It's basically the easiest subject and yet so many people fail horribly. What gives?

>> No.8976494

Because people don't bother to practice it and then they complain that math's too hard.

Math is just doing stuff over and over until it becomes routine. Same for learning a different language.

Practice is important. Otherwise you are just reading a novel about ideas.

Same here. There are some concepts that I struggle with, though.

Math isn't difficult but it requires a lot of basic calculations that are repeated in a variety of orders and if you mess up at any step of a math equation, you'll get a substantially wrong answer. I'm not thorough and don't pay close enough attention to numbers because I see math as a redundant, strict study that is not fun or interesting at all.

But like the other people here are saying, if you practice it enough, math comes easily to anyone.

brainlet here, I'm currently working on my math skill and for me its like reading a different language I'm slowly starting to understand because of the khan academy courses

The same reason you suck at other subjects that others excel at

People are different you unemphatic autist

Poor foundations means theyhave difficulty learning anything higher.

Either they were taught math terribly and never sought out how to do it on their own or they just fucked around too much.

Yea, even my professor who was finding the inverse of a 5x5 matrix fucked up because you have to do so much shit and if you fuck up in 1 spot everything after it is wrong.

Picture a massive ledge that you see some people born with a hang glider fly over to from one side of a canyon.
The rest have to walk because they don't have the resources or emotional fortitude to get to the other side.

Calculation-based math or proof-based math?
