Is there any basis for obsessive rumination over physical illnesses (i.e. cancer) actually causing them to manifest? I don't just mean psychosomatic symptoms that resemble the illness.

No, it's a stupid meme. You won't get cancer because you worry about it.

I dont think so.
I have lately come to the conclusion that the psychosymatic and empath symptoms for diseases are caused by something similar to synsthesia. Or they both have the same rout cause.

But you will worry about cancer because you got it, and that's pretty much the same because correlation does not imply causation.

On a statistical level, the argument s pretty solid desu

It's not the same. The first would be a reason to try and not worry about cancer, while the second is not.

No, but defeatism will lead to your body not recovering as fast or have your situation devolve faster.

since they are probably way more people worrying about having or getting cancer than people who actually have or get them there probably is no correlation between worrying and having or getting.

not cancer, but being in constant distress can cause other health issues over time.

Other than from a lifestyle standpoint, worrying can't be positive, though, unless vigilance somehow strengthens your immune system (does the opposite probably).

Fear of damage to one's body.
