Or something like that...

If i'd hypothesize something we might in the far future be able to visualize what you are visualizing. Maybe even auditory memories, since both visualization and (iirc) thinking about speech activate the auditory and parietal cortex. (i.e the places where audio and vision are processed).

Not gonna happen in our lifetime though, maybe even never.

It's a question of being able to fully map the brain and analyze it in real time, then interfacing that analysis with a computer. Almost definitely possible, though far beyond current limits of processing. Once science can strip a brain down to its bare 1s and 0s so to speak, it can work on creating an interface that would allow us to control technology using our thoughts and other related magical things.

instead of 'interpreting' it's more likely the computer will be able to predict your thoughts before you even think them based on massive amounts of machine learning

i'm working on it

Improbable that there will be a way to interpret thoughts in such a direct fashion. They may be however brain-computer interfaces that allow similar effects, but is based on practiced intentional effort on the part of the user to make it happen. Same as learning to use any other kind of tool except that we don't have to route our efforts through our bodies first.

I think it's unlikely the same thought will ever be represented by the same neural pathways being lit up.
Besides, look at how many people are brain-damaged: you'd have to exclude them from the project because no one can make sense of stupid (senselessness).

Nope, not unless you get an invasive neural interface
>>8691187
Noninvasive neural interfaces are likely to always be shit.

Yes, Jack gallant is doing it

Yes, how do you think a keyboard and mouse work?
