Growing up I haven't met many people with green eyes. But now I see a fair few Caucasians with green eyes. I considered it a fairly rare trait. So heres my blunt broad question. What parts of the world do people with green eyes come from. I apologise if you don't like the format of my post.

Also, does someone have any kind of information(study, paper, etc.) about if having blue, grey, or green eyes could be superior to having brown/black eyes? Could there be an advantage to have light eyes where (for example) the sun hours are few, or where the climate is different?
So far I've only read theories about blue and green eyes being a "side effect" from developing pale skin to more easily absorb sunlight.

all humans have blue eyes during infancy or shortly before birth, then the brown layer grows on top of it or something. It's been postulated to help filter UV out or some shit. People have recently succeeded in burning off the top layer of their iris using surgery to make their eyes blue.

I've noticed that it's often North African and Middle Easterners with green eyes (usually the non-Arab ones). You'll even find Berber people who are practically indistinguishable from mainland Europeans, with blond hair and blue/green eyes.

There is a theory:
The green/blue pigments don't absorb as much light as the vanilla blue ones, therefore people with green/blue eyes produce less "sleep hormones", when it gets dark, which is probably helpful if you live in northern countries.

Source: A Master Biology student, who made a study about this. But even she said, that she hadn't found useful data.
