Honestly, is there a god or creator? I have become interested in cosmology lately and keep pondering this question. I grew up and still am around a lot of Christians so I am only getting one side here.

P.S. what are some good books on cosmology?

We don't know, and we might never know.

Don't let these types of questions ponder your mind too much.

Can't watch this right now but judging from the title it says there is a god?

Is cosmology not natural philosophy?

You can't confirm nor deny that there is something outside the observable universe.

But you can ask yourself which version do you want to believe. Not choosing is still choosing.
Decide which version will benefit you more.

We are in the exact middle of the observable universe. Are you claiming we are special, perhaps even the chosen ones?
Claiming there isn't more of the same out of view is naive.

I choose the one which gives me most freedom. There is no point in making arbitrary limits just because of I believe something.

Why do you think dogma applies to god/higher powers?

How could this world not have a creator?
I don't get how people can think a literal WORLD, complete with precise physical laws can come out of nowhere.

How can we really understand the difference between a conscious creator and an unconscious process if we haven't solved the Hard Problem yet?

>> No.8449117

I honestly don't get people's yearning for some kind of creator other than the possibility of life coming after death. Looking at the universe as something that came into existence and goes on as it does through intricate systems "just because" makes it all seem so much more wonderful. Even the reality that we just get born and die with nothing afterwards makes it even more beautiful to me.

Take the positive nihilism pill.
