But, OP, the exaggeration of the story after Watson's comments does a good job of illustrating why you aren't likely to see "redpilled" scientists now. A scientist or mathematician who has anti-PC views is smart enough to know that any of their fuck-ups (or things that resemble fuck-ups at first glance, or things that can be made to look like fuck-ups with a hard-to-disprove lie) will be magnified tenfold if they make their views public.

Science isn't the alt-right's plaything. Watson presented anecdotal evidence (working with niggers shows they are genetically dumb, a claim that doesn't follow logically) and he got rightfully called out on it. You can't make incendiary claims and not have any hard evidence to show for it, it's just how science works. I'm sure /pol/ would've hugged him, but science requires certain standards of evidence before we put a stamp of approval on any claim of fact.
