Pride is what you feel when you achieve something. It's not a choice, it's an emotional response to success and is part of the reason why we strive for success at all.

It's you liberal hypocrites who brainlessly eat whatever slop the mainstream media and Democrat party feeds you. You fools still think "hands up don't shoot" really happened, Mexican is a race, socialism can work, and that global warming is real and caused by capitalism.

I don't care what scientific field you claim to specialize in; you're still a vapid idiot as far as I'm concerned.

^This. If someone doesn't believe in free will then everything they do is logically consistent with the fact they have no choice.

>the self-preservation instinct dictates the ways of the universe
Dumb. Shit.

Let us first define "free will" as "the ability to will one´s will", i.e. "to control the appearance of thought and reflection".
The options are now as follows:

1. The universe is deterministic. Your actions are sprung from a previous event, leaving you without control of will.

2. The universe is indeterministic. Your actions are sprung from chance conjured by cosmic dice, leaving you without control of will.

3. The universe is a combination of points 1 and 2, leaving you without control.

Advocates of free will always include a religious element to their reasoning; be it "spirit", "mind", "soul" or any other fancy word used to denote a dualistic view on the origin of seemingly spontaneous thought. You ignorant cretin have no leg to stand on without blind faith.

PS. Since you seem adamant on furthering your cause by appealing to authority, know that Einstein, Schopenhauer and many a great mind in history expressly denies and ridicules the notion of "free will".

Taking pride on something you did:
Socially -> acceptable
Personally -> Depends on the effort you did
Pragmatically -> X helped me to achieve this, Y almost sabotaged me
Brainlet way -> I don't know I can't control anything! :(

Keep mixing shit up brainlet.

i don't get this argument on free will or why it's important. At least in the context you all use it in.
