Right now I'm taking a "linear algebra for engineers" and it's mostly straight forward computation.

How do I get a deeper understanding of linear algebra? Any good resources.

Standard references for mathfags are Hoffman and Kunze and Insel et al. For learning the stuff, I've heard good things about Gilbert Strang's books, and I appreciate the guy for doing some good research in related areas.

I used Shilov. It's a little dense and about at a baby rudin level of sophistication, so it can be hard if you have no previous rigorous math experience. A friendlier alternative for theory is Axler
