As a physics major, do you think it'd be useful to take the second semester of differential equations (diff eq 2). I was going to take PDE or vector/tensor analysis but they're not being offered.

I've already taken calc 1-3, diff eq, and linear algebra, and probability

The topics covered:

-Systems of linear differential equations
- numerical solutions,
- stability theory
- phase plane analysis
- limit cycles,
- bifurcations and chaos
- power series solutions

They're both only occasionally offered. Probably wouldn't be able to take it until next Fall semester.

or I can just not take a math course all together and fill that space with something from engineering or chemistry, as long as its upper division it doesn't matter.

I'd go for DE 2 instead of numerical methods for DEs

Take as much diff eq as you can. Differential equations are the cornerstone of physics and you need as much exposure as possible to them.
