I've been thinking about sociopaths and weather is it possible for a a non-sociopath person to become one
sociopaths seems to have a lot of advantage because they don't follow their emotion cuz they don't have one duh! and thus they are more rational than average brainlet normies, So is it possible to become one? discuss /sci/

I think sociopaths have a short term advantage over normals but as they gain a reputation for fucking people over they would fall behind. If you're a smart sociopath you may just be able to simulate empathy and cooperate in order to reach goals but I don't think they have any special advantages except maybe as warriors.

My ideal, Jim Fallon. Read his book.

Sociopaths are not the most functional though. Every president, mob boss, spy and billionaire is normal. Highly "sociopathic", sure, but still neurotypical. We don't know for sure why.

I'd say otherwise sane people most often become sociopaths from extended isolation, we're meant to interact, and having no one to bounce your own thoughts off of other than yourself for too long makes you lose your concept of reality outside your own mind

also there's hallucinogens but that doesn't really count

maybe they have the advantage of being less likely to get depression?

Sociopaths universally seem the most caring, empathetic people around. It's an art they have perfected.

This isn't really science. You can at any time choose to be amoral and fill your head with bullshit like "black people are not real people so it is ok to make them pick your cotton".

Jim Fallon is a meme, literally realised he was getting nowhere in neuroscience so decided he would come out as le sociopath.

That is literally what a sociopath is

Well let's assume his story is true. Surely it's not so unusual to have happen somewhere to someone.

Researchers have linked head injuries with psychopathy and violence. Since the 1980s, scientists have associated traumatic brain injury, such as damage to the prefrontal cortex, including the orbitofrontal cortex, with psychopathic behavior and a deficient ability to make morally and socially acceptable decisions, a condition that has been termed "acquired sociopathy", or "pseudopsychopathy".[59] Individuals with damage to the area of the prefrontal cortex known as the ventromedial prefrontal cortex show remarkable similarities to psychopathic individuals, displaying reduced autonomic response to emotional stimuli, deficits in aversive conditioning, similar preferences in moral and economic decision making, and diminished empathy and social emotions such as guilt and shame.[94] These emotional and moral impairments may be especially severe when the brain injury occurs at a young age. Children with early damage in the prefrontal cortex may never fully develop social or moral reasoning and become "psychopathic individuals ... characterized by high levels of aggression and antisocial behavior performed without guilt or empathy for their victims". Additionally, damage to the amygdala may impair the ability of the prefrontal cortex to interpret feedback from the limbic system, which could result in uninhibited signals that manifest in violent and aggressive behavior.[52][53][54][61]
