joined mensa a couple of years back. it was basically the most depressing group of people i ever hung out with. they join because they have no friends and can not relate to people. most of them are complete failures in life, they are plagued by mental illness and the ones that are successful are arrogant beyond words.

one in fifty people pass their test. there is nothing special about being more intelligent than others. the only thing it does is create a void between you and most other people. a void filled with loneliness and alienation.

if you want to belong and make friends go to the pub.

I'm of average intelligence (at least according to this app someone on here recommended), and I got 17/18, so this "test" is literally trying to scam people out of money.

However, I'd love to be more intelligent. I salivate at the thought of getting math concepts first time, and remembering long passages of text. I'd even take an IQ of 115-120.

It sucks being average. Knowing that the subject you love is essentially walled off from you... That you don't have the raw cognitive ability to cope and eventually you're going to hit a brick wall, at the peak of your intellectual ability.

IQ is not merited as being approximate to one's intelligence. The self-defeating conclusion you've drawn with respect to IQ and academic achievement will be what ultimately sets the bar for you as a striving individual.

But it has. I would strongly recommend you watch the video linked. It's a truly eye opening lecture, by Douglas Detterman. A reasonably big name in intelligence research; former editor of the journal intelligence.

iq of 115-120 is not even something to worth mentioning and you probably have an iq around that range so i don't see where your problem is

the subject you love is not "walled off" from you,you're pushing it away

stop being an absolute retard,literally almost no one in stem can remember long passages of text or grasp complex concepts at once

anyone with isn't hindered by a mental disability can atleast get into uni and possibly fight for a degree with the proper attitude and work ethic
