Assuming you have x years left to live, you can only move up immortality's release date by x/10 years.

I'm assuming you're at least 18. Try to come to grips with the fact that you have less than 80 years to live, and therefore can only move up immortality's invention date by less than 8 years.

If the cure for death is at least 50 years away you can't beat death with the button unless you think you're going to live for at least 500 years. In which case, why bother becoming immortal? 500 years is plenty of time to lose your faith in humanity and kill yourself.

It all depends on how far away the "cure of immortality" is. In reality, just hit the button as many times as you want. You might get it, or you might not.
