Wittgenstein isn't as known by normies as you'd think.

Grothendieck is extremely well known by mathematicians, people don't understand the field he advanced us away from, much less what he advanced us too. I don't really either mind you, but I was close enough to the culture for some understanding of him to trickle down.

Personality wise and life-story wise he's really cool, but there's no shortage of that in the history of even recent mathematicians.
