What do you think would be a good goal GPA to shoot for to get accepted? How many years of research, internships, etc.? Extracurriculars?

The professor I am going to do research with has a lot of honors and awards, seems to be quite esteemed.

You need to get over an obsession with going to the "top" school and just work hard to learn as much as you can about your field. Your SOP should convince them that you can come in, and you will fit in and do meaningful research.

The important thing is that you have something to say in the essay. This is accomplished by talking about your subject with professors throughout undergrad, studying outside and beyond the scope of classes, picking up research experience, etc. Don't worry about it so much at this point.

I applied to MIT undergrad and had an interview with an MIT alumni.

Dude was white as fuck, but had a spanish sounding name. During the interview I told him about all the AP classes I was taking. The Physics, the Chemistry, Biology, Calculus.

He proceeded to tell me that he never took any AP classes in high school, just an IB course. Didn't even take calculus. He even told me he suspects he got accepted to MIT because he marked on his application that he is half-hispanic because his mom was from Colombia or something.

He then told me that at MIT in the undergraduate dorms, all the students put off their work until the day before it is due (apparently it was all due on Fridays), and they would stay up all night Thursday night and work on it together.

That took up the first 1/3 of the interview. For the next 2/3 he talked to me about Age of Empires 2 and how it is superior to all other RTS games.

Pretty much. Longest proof I've written was for euclidean geometry and was maybe half a page long. I know shit is going to get crazy later but I don't see myself ever struggling.

As I said before, university is not my only personal and intellectual endeavor right now and it probably won't ever be because I don't see myself quitting my job.

I am just taking Calc 2. That said, last semester in Calc 1 I would get As when most people were getting C's and I passed with a percentage of 110% because the professor gave some free points so that not too many kids would fail and for me that just meant that I was doing better than perfect in terms of score.

I am not a moron but if you are telling me this then I probably know less than you at the moment. Not that I care.

im wanting to study mathematical logic (computability, model theory, etc), but all of the decent courses are all listed as being graduate level...
is there a reason for this?

I'm not even a math major (Mech eng), but I live with a fuckload of applied math guys and we party 3-4 nights a week and they all do fine. Just find a group to work with and you'll be fine.
