So are you telling me that a photon is a particle but travels within a non-physical "wave" of probability which follows the exact same laws of physics as ripples in a pond and only materializes into existence if in contact with an observer?

no, retard. just fuck off if you havent even read anything about it

Basically yes, if you believe Cophenhagen

Stop trying to composite ideas you understand to intuitively understand the double slit experiment.

That is where you are going wrong.

It simply is what it is. It's simply how EVERYTHING really behaves.

The idea of a particle you have, or of a wave, are "fuzzy" versions of what really happens.

Basically everything you intuitively think is wrong. The unintuitive double slit experiment is reality.

No moron, a wave is actually a section of a complex line bundle, there isn't an "intuitive" way of understanding this right, even more if you mix it up with your "philosophical" bullshit, if you're not willing to follow the reasoning behind it the rigorous way, don't spread such stupid metaphors like pop-sci media loves to.

Nah, I don't think you guys truly understand it as I do.

The "wave" extends throughout the entire universe. It's the probability of all timelines. The wave of probability goes through the double slit and behaves like ripples in water.

Now the particle follows a timeline and ends up where there is maximum probability, creating the interference pattern.

Wow, you couldn't figure this out?

Wrong

The particle has a 0% chance to land anywhere other than 1 of the 2 slits.

The wave intefers with itself.

However, the wave cannot interact with anything above the quantum scale, which is why it only interacts as a particle on those larger scales.

>I understand this so well that I'm able to put it in retardedly oversimplified classical terms, Wow, you couldn't figure this out?

I'd throw some photons down that double slit, if you catch my drift.

Too bad they're beating physics undergrad into faith and submission under the almighty Copenhagen interpretation.

"It can't be intuitive, dude like it'll totes break ur mind n you can't REALLY GET IT unless you're aware and you FUCKING ADMIT the human brain lackS the faculty to GET IT, you just have to look at the data and what it all does and have FAITH there is NO FUCKING WAY you will EVER and I mean fucking EVER, be able to intuitive understand what IT is REALLY DOING.

SO JUST ACCEPT IT, FUCKER. AM I CLEAR? DO YOU WANT TO GRADUATE YOU ARROGANT PIECE OF SHIT? YOU DON'T GET IT. THE RELIGION IS THAT YOU DON'T GET AND YOU CAN'T GET IT AND YOU SHOULDN'T EVEN TRY. ALL YOU NEED TO GET IS THAT YOU DON'T GET IT. GET IT? GOOD. I DO TOO."

People were saying the same thing in Einstein's era. Then relativity.

Woops. But really, this was the last time. Really. No, really.

I don't think you understand the meaning of "intuitive" here.

What you have experienced in life, as a human between the 0.3 - 2 meter scale, dealing with pressures within, say 20% of a standard atmosphere, in a ~1g gravity field, at temperatures between -10 and 45 degrees Celsius, has given you an idea of "how things work." You let go of something, it falls. You walk into a wall, you bounce off. You apply force to things gradually.

None of those things have prepared your brain for dealing with quantum mechanics. You can study QM, you can learn the math, you can do experiments and get a good feeling for how it all works, but it's not "intuitive." If it was intuitive, five year olds would understand it.

"Not intuitive" doesn't mean you can't understand it.
