Chemfags,

How can I check the purity, and presence/absence of contaminants of a synthetic opioid in powdered form?

>> No.8241250

you can ask the FBI to do it ;)

the DEA has a drug analysis journal

run an assay

Tell me the weight of the opioid and tell me what kind of opioid is it, and Ill tell you how pure it is

What do you have access to?

Melting point is probably going to be the easiest for you.

I mean if you have access to an NMR that's a useful tool. I'm willing to bet your home drug lab doesn't though.

Quick and correct, but I'm willing to bet OP doesn't have enough opioid to burn through half of it to get a precise measurement. It also wouldn't be the best quantitative method, considering impurities could potentially eat up some of the heat, and the moment it melts some of the organic impurities could dissolve.

I would say also run a TLC plate on your heroin, as well OP. They're comparatively cheap and easy to setup. Only downside is that again, you won't have a quantitative result, but you can make a "good enough" comparison to see how much impurity is roughly in the sample.
