The cause of the idiocy of the West, from once being the powerhouse of the world is solely upon the poor quality education system, lax in parenting; nanny state mandates and major cultural shift into tolerating everything for 'equality'. Counter-culture has become culture.

STEM needs to be the major focus of society once more, emphasis upon intellect and innovation, over feelings and tolerance for the intolerable.

My questions to /sci/ are:

What was your experience in STEM and how society reacted to it whilst you were or are in education?

What do you think can be done to bring Western culture back around into refocusing upon STEM, rather than the liberal arts and soft sciences?

What are you talking about? More people are falling for the STEM meme every year. All the engineering majors at my uni were full as fuck and hard to get into because of the sheer amount of people wanting to take them.

Then why are other countries trying to out perform the West in STEM?
