Well one thing that sticks out to me is that generally, women are better equipped to live in society than men are. They're just as competitive with each other as we guys are, but tend to channel such energies in a more socially conscious, subtle, and calculated manner than men do - where many guys would be up in each other's faces and ready to smack the shit out of each other, women would quietly influence things so that the chain of events that transpires ends up in her favor.

To be honest I envy that level of inherent social/emotional intelligence and ability to pick up on minute cues. I'm not horrible at that sort of thing in day to day life - fairly typical capabilities based on most other guys I know - but there are tons of situations like that where even average women would perform far better than I do.

It's a serious mistake to treat IQ as a general measure of intelligence.

IQ originated as a test to detect mental retardation (literally meaning slowed development, not the soured euphemism of permanent intellectual impairment) in children. A common reason for a difference in size and strength between male and female mammals is when the males fight over mates, particularly in order to guard harems. That's definitely a factor in human evolution. If you look at our faces in particular, men's face bones are thickened and toughened out of proportion to the differences from women in the rest of the body. That's probably because the face is the most easily damaged area of the body in a fist fight.

Health is another obvious one. Things like a bad diet during childhood can have serious repercussions into adulthood. Exercising is good for all of your nervous system.

Your general cognitive aptitude also relates to your emotional states, so test-takers are asked to be prepared in some aspects.

Finding "gifted" children is not very different from finding children with deficits. Just different extremes of the bell-curve. It's very hard for someone to just fall on the right side of it, unless they got the chops for it.

Look for the parents of famous scientific figures: both the father and the mother where related to scientific pursuits, and their I.Q added to the genius to make those ubermench.
I'd generally agree but you've got to be careful with this. When two intelligent people (particularly if they're in STEM fields) have children it's much more likely that said children will fall somewhere in the autism spectrum where with a couple of intelligent+average, that risk is almost nil.

We absolutely need smart people to reproduce more but it's going to be an uphill battle.

Another factor is that some studies where men do better are based on high-school graduates, and stupid women are more likely to make it than stupid men.

This probably also explains some of the SAT gap; the worst males end up in jail, while the worst females might still try for CC or something. 100,000 more women than men take the SAT each year, I doubt those "extra" women have an equal genius/idiot split.

Not that it explains everything, men have like double the rate of 800's on the math section, but the standard deviation difference by sex is bigger here than anywhere else.

Finally someone that gets it. I also believe it's better and the only true IQ score is when you're unaware you're being tested at those young ages because it takes away a lot of anxieties that adults carry. If a kid is in special ed at the same time every day doing the same tasks and the instructor gives them an iq test then it won't feel like a test but just another practice plan. I know from experience but I believe that's the case by the way children behave
