Sociology is the bestest thing ever. You all only hate it because it manipulates you and because it is difficult and rigourous yet does not require any hard math such as trigonometry. I am a sociologist by training and that is the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard. No other field out there except maybe literature has more of a reputation to invent meaningless jargon to describe relatively simple concepts. Although to be fair I am german and it is more prevalent here with people like Adorno who openly declared their hate for simple argumentation. There should be a law against that. Only invent new words if you could only indicate the concept with three sentences or more, otherwise.

Besides, quantative methods in sociology are becoming more sophisticated, including computational methods, classification for high dimensional data etc. so a formal language is becoming more prevalent. Formal = cleaner and that is something sociology needs, no matter if you work qualitative or quantitative.
