yes, the problem is that degree threads are always cancer.

This sort of thing is dumb, because people earn respectability through talent in their field. Somebody who graduates from a culinary school and makes fantastic food is more likely to be respectable than somebody who got a nuclear engineering degree and toils in obscurity working in a reactor somewhere.

If you want to be respected, do something you're passionate and skilled at, and you will be able to make a name for yourself. Your field is largely irrelevant.

From your picture, you obviously are trying to list which degrees are the "hardest science", more than anything, and there's really no point to that sort of dick-waving.

It's pretty much basic knowledge that bio/chem/pharm PhD produce the knowledge and MDs apply it

I dunno if i would say every type of MD is more prestigious than every kind of bio phd, depends how well you performed in your respective field

I also fell for the pure meme and am only just starting to appreciate the gravity of my mistake. It's so ironic that the OP pic included this footnote:
>5. Just because you're intelligent doesn't make you respectable

...and still put physics and math god tier. I know medicine and engineering isn't perfect either, but there is a glaring difference in quality between students in those courses who generally behave more professionally compared to the kids I have to deal with in physics. My class is full of autists who think they are hot shit for passing calculus of variations, meanwhile my high-school friends in engineering have all had paid STEM internships and some even have publications out in both science and engineering journals. Looking at the actual differences in curricula I just know roughly half the people graduating in my programme are going to end up in IT because there's nothing to make us employable in industry above engineering graduates and most stduents don't get into good grad-schools. Personally I'm going for a PhD and hoping for the best, but I don't know at this point, I might just do an engineering bachelors if the job market calms down.

Even comparing faculty the differences stay. Engineering professors own their own companies or do a lot of consulting work and in general are happy and balanced. They are serious people and they don't have to pretend to be smart all the time. This is in stark contrast to pure academics who are so blatantly insecure and desperate for any modicum praise. Most of them aren't half as intelligent as they want to believe they are, but are still arrogant and can't admit when they make mistakes.

I wish I never found /sci/, but then again the same fucking lies and delusions are in my department's broschure as well. I want off this ride.

This happens in basically every degree, everyone has an ego to protect. The arrogance you find in math and physics is exactly the same arrogance you find in engineering. Sure we may act more professional, but it is infuriating trying to keep professional when someone else is either tearing apart your work, or completely misunderstanding things.

The grass is always greener on the other side. Keep positive anon.

Yeah, only one of the degrees in god tier actually belong there. It's not a suprise that you got it hilariously wrong since you're a nukefag though, spending so much time near the reactor has turned you into a manifestation of cancer.

At my university we get into the engineering postgrad programme for any discipline (so can many other BSc degrees though), but we only applied science/technology degrees instead of engineering masters degrees. From what I've seen they basically use you as lab monkeys to pump out publications for the department and you don't even get an accreditted degree at the end. I don't know why the fuck people are stupid enough to fall for it. It's not even a fine print or anything, their departmental postgrad broschure specifially says in big ass bold text.

Then again my department essentially does the same thing to everyone except for a few golden boys who get put on almost every publications for miniscule contributions to modelling experimental data.

There's probably a few universities that will let me do accreditted engineering master degrees directly I haven't really looked yet, but it will end up being the same amount of time doing remedial course work either way. From what my friends have told me higher academic qualifications are basically worthless for salary bumps compared to years in industry which count towards your PE so it's basically irrelevant. Writing your FE exam qualifiers and getting industry as fast as possible should be your goal if you want money.
