We can be as elitist as we want, but most people are easily scared to try and learn about math--blame the educational system, shitty grade school teachers, etc.

What SingingBanana and Numberphile do is necessary and good for math as a whole. They simplify things because they have to, yes, but at least people can get excited over objectively beautiful and I interesting results and theories.

I didn't like him at first because he intentionally acts out a stereotype, but I now understand it's a submissive gesture to signal the intent on servitude, while providing good opportunities for serious mathematicians to counter the assumptions, e.g. you can say "I don't care about numbers" and you've already unpigeonholed yourself.

As for Numberphile most of their content is entertaining and informative. Grime is a bit of a turn-off in terms of entertainment though; his voice grates and his mannerisms are jarring. Throw in the awful pen/paper scratching noise and a lot of their videos go from enjoyable to unpleasant.
