Last week there was a inter-universal teichmüller theory conference. Judging from Voloch's blog people aren't much closer to understanding it
>At the afternoon tea break, everybody was confused. I asked many people and nobody had a clue.

>After that, Hoshi gave a very technical talk about Hodge theaters, etale theta functions and the mysterious theta link but I was too exhausted to follow.

>Unfortunately, the optimism from the morning had dissipated in the afternoon and the energy was gone from the room. The crowd was unusually quiet.

>You may think that Yamashita is quite a unusual person. However most japanese people behave like this. By the way, I'm always wondering why he always wears a kimono.

If all magazines and mathematicians that went to it say the last 2 days were impossible to understand why the organizing committee says it was perfect? Damage control much?

>is math math when nobody understands it

Well whether others understand it or not has no impact on if the proof is correct, however if only one guy understands it then we, collectively, can't put any trust in it being correct.

Oh my! You brainlets really can't understand anything on your own, can you? Do I really have to take one hour of my valuable time to read through Memechizuki's proof and spoonfeed it to you?
