Most psychologists take just one class of statistics and do pretty well. What is the point of getting a degree in stats? My methodology professor said the methods are so advanced that they only work under ideal circumstances (i.e. not in the real world) unlike more general methods like linear regression.

psych b.a. here. i planned on going into a neuropsych phd program but that didnt pan out. every psych undergrad needs to take a basic stats class.

every person that wants to go the masters or phd route needs to have taken advanced stats, and if they were really serious, as was i, a multivariate stats class should be taken. thats all thats really required for psych graduate studies.

Like, there are many variables that you can't know. Say you have a function like f(x) normally but then you can have f(x, y, z, å, ä, ö) but you don't know z, å or ö.

What kind of backwater university are you tied with? Here in the civilized world half of psychology Bsc consists of statistics. What kind of advanced methods are we talking about?
