I started on College Algebra 1. Sure, I had to spend an extra couple of semesters, but I also worked through a lot of major requirements(econ class, public speaking, liberal arts requirements etc) and other things that would have filled my schedule and made my day more hectic. By doing this, I actually made my engineering degree fairly easy compared to my peers and I graduated with a 3.9 GPA and had much much more time on my hands.

Employers don't care at all how long it takes you to graduate. It is already advised by most to take 5 years for an engineering degree, just to make it easier on you.

oh ok, i wasnt expecting to design anything other than like the layout of a chemical plant at most, im more interested in doing thermo calculations or applying chemE concepts to something with aerospace. im fine with someone else designing, i, just interested in assisting with essential parts to the problem if you know what im trying to say.

You're generalizing entire fields and somehow have an idea that finance is more enjoyable than engineering, so you have no idea with what you're going on about and clearly aren't more than an freshman in university.

If you don't enjoy engineering, then why are you even considering it? If you're going for a maths degree, you won't have any sort of backing for engineering past your second year, so you'd be wasting your time. You either have a knack or you don't and I don't think that you do.

I'll say, if it was ME and I was going for maths... deducing what would actually be worth the time I spent on my degree and ON PAPER, what would be most successful if I pursued it? It'd be finance without a doubt. Maths majors aren't really the best for going to grad school for engineering.

Would I ever in my life actually want to work in finance? Holy fuck, just give me the gun now. If you think that Finance is more interesting or less bureaucratic than engineering, you're in for a very rude awakening. It's probably the most soul-sucking thing you can do, which is why the guys in that field are usually total sociopathic morons.

Who would I respect more and such? It'd be the engineer. Most people don't respect people who enter finance.

Once again, this is irrelevant. Society respects engineers as they are practical and allow us to progress. Few people respect who go into finance.

Of course you will use this when choosing as you're a human being. How much? That depends on the person.

Also, talking about people like "plebeians in the street" makes me think that you're a delusional person and a bit of a dick head, anyway. Seeing this, you don't sound like a person that would ever see the reason to have even the slightest inclination to an altruistic path by entering engineering and would be a terrible engineer, anyway.

As I already said, you're just a delusional kid. You'll figure this stuff out on your own sooner or later if you don't listen.

What would I care about some freshman telling me that I'm pathetic when I'm probably over a decade older and am in a completely different part of my life? It's your life and you'll either fuck it up or come out okay as the case for many people in university. It won't affect me.

So, what I'm saying is that when given advice, especially after coming here and asking yourself, and then complaining because it's not what you wanted to hear, maybe you should take a look in the mirror and stop being stubborn and idiotic. We're not your parents. We're going to tell you how it is and truly, you can grow up and accept the truth or you can fade away into delusion. Consider every field of engineering.

Unless I'm mistaken, that's aeronautical, chemical, civil, electrical, marine, mechanical, nuclear and petroleum.

Consider the jobs in these for a maths graduate.

For aeronautical, chemical, electrical, marine, nuclear and petroleum, you'd have no fucking chance of getting the job without knowledge of the actual field, in short - a maths grad stands no chance.

That leaves civil and mechanical, which if I'm not mistaken are the two most oversaturated parts of engineering, and both have shit pay.

Civil Engineer here.

More or less have a job lined up when I finish up here at school, taking a few classes in a mixed Master's/Undergraduate program so it counts towards a Master's Degree. My only problem is I really don't know what I want to study beyond Undergrad. All I know is that I can do more than this

Any Mechanichal Engineers here who hire drafters?

Do you prefer a specific program/platform or only care about clear and eligible drawings?

Mech here in petrochemicals. You seem to be doing the right things but i recommend getting plant experience for your next internship. The summer months are more competitive, so do a fall or spring coop. Go to your career fairs with resumes in hand.

Also, polish the resume and practice interviews. Some schools offer it

>>7587588

I don't hire directly, but if you know CAD, you can learn the rest. The mechanics of using the software are wasy, it's interpretating what the engineer wants is the most challenging part (as most will give you inaccurate drawings).

You can get jobs with engineering but not with physics. College costs lots of money, and Good Will Hunting said that degrees that aren't job training are a waste of money because you can just read library books instead. It's all about getting the PE certification which only engineers can get.
