Orthogonality implies a lot of other things, the least of which is extending to higher-dimensions.

Perpendicular is an artifact of geometry useful only in <span class="math">\mathbb{R}^2[/spoiler] and <span class="math">\mathbb{R}^3[/spoiler].

if you're at a good school it probably has an OED online subscription, use that to answer questions like this

if you're not at a good school, wikitionary is an OK resource for these questions (OED is much better though)
