I won't lie, it's very nice to. But it's not worth passing up Bright Futures, especially if it'll cripple your family. At my OOS public I got full need-based aid, and after looking at what my family would have to pay, they said not to sweat it. Undergrad also only really matters if your Bachelor's will be your terminal degree.

The problem with doing applications online is that you are competing against a shitload of other people, so unless your resume is good (which it probably isn't) you have pretty much no chance of landing a job using this method. Calling companies and asking if they would be willing to take an intern is a good way to gain experience and build your resume, also if you do a good job as an intern the company might hire you (this is what happened to the only one of my geology-major friends who got a job right after college).

It's mostly women that get them. Women get something like 60% of college degrees in the US, but men are still getting more STEM degrees, especially the legit ones like engineering. So the soft majors are probably like 70/30 women. And the complete bullshit majors like Women's Studies are almost entirely women.

Guys, I am two years into an Economics degree. I have only taken the Intro and Intermediate Econ courses, I can still turn back.
