can anyone explain the difference between a conventional four-legged chair, and a five-castor office chair, in terms of my ass?

i'm guessing that with a five-castor office chair, since my ass is basically sitting on a metal plate that is being held up by a vertical pole, that more force/pressure is being applied to my ass, i.e. it's all going to/from that one point/line

but because with a four-wheel chair i'm sitting on a frame that is being held with four legs, so that the force/pressure is being distributed better with a four-wheel chair, i.e. away from my ass

is that right?

or is there literally no difference?

bonus points: draw force lines

optional: draw my ass

Uh actually since the metal pole is attached to a metal plate which is in turn attached to a larger base, the force shouldn't be concentrated in the centre any more than a four-legged chair.

There's probably some complicated shit going on which would be required for a sufficient proof, but you can just take my word for it if you like.

That said, sitting is an unnatural position for humans, you should really get a standing desk. This makes choosing a chair unnecessary, as you won't be needing a chair.

If you want to science it up, cover two chairs in pressure sensors and sit in them, comparing the gathered data afterwards.

What you say would be true if the seat of the chair were a fucking hammock.
It is hard, the soft cushion goes on top of that, there is no difference to your ass. The only difference is how the chair experiences forces, I've had two office chairs break already, because a single rod will bend and experience metal fatigue over time. That combined with a poor welding job.

By the way, get a recliner in style pic related, got one recently and it's way better and more comfortable than a traditional office chair.

Exactly.

>and you're also saying that an ass hammock > any plate?
Yeah, a hammock is gonna be softer to sit on than a hard plate of course. But I would personally rather sit on a good cushion. Some people like water beds, some like hammocks, etc.

I agree with that, but it contradicts what you were saying earlier, that everybody sits and therefore it is good to sit.

> I can tell you that it would be unnatural and painful for me to not sit.

How do you know?

There's a lot of evidence recently coming to light that sitting down for most of the day, like most of us (including me and obviously you) do, is actually quite bad for us. Google it.

I never said that, you inferred it.

>How do you know?
Because I've tried. I had to quit a job because I had to stand all day there.

>evidence recently coming to light that sitting down for most of the day
That's not actually what it's about. It's about lack of exercise.

>I never said that, you inferred it.

Because it was the only possible reasonable inference.

>Because I've tried. I had to quit a job because I had to stand all day there.

So what? Standing uninterrupted all day means sitting can't be bad? Bad logic.

>It's about lack of exercise.

It's specifically NOT about lack of exercise, actually. Sitting for long periods is associated with bad outcomes even for people who get lots and lots of exercise as well.

Because they don't move when they sit, and that means a lot of non-exercise.

Mostly standing, with brief breaks (sitting or squatting).

I'll repeat, these are people who get lots of exercise.

Dumb answer. Then you're saying sitting is good after all.

>I'll repeat, these are people who get lots of exercise.
I'll repeat, they don't get the prolonged low intensity exercise over time.
Or are you seriously claiming that there is something inherently harmful being in a seated position.

>> No.7465917

>>7465914
Not inherently. But I think rhe question here is about moderation and how much time is spent sitting. Being in a state of complete rest for extended periods of time is bad for your circulatory system and muscles

>Being in a state of complete rest for extended periods of time is bad
There, you got it.
Not fucking sitting in itself.
And there is no good alternative to chairs to rest after standing for a while. Therefore saying sitting is bad is like saying water is bad because everyone who drinks it will die.

I did hear somewhere that squatting while shitting is better for you then sitting while shitting (because ancient humans didn't have toilets so, in terms of evolution, the squatting position causes less stress to the sphincter).
