The problem is thinking of this as discrete groups, however clines are legit. Think of it like colors, there is no well defined spot where red becomes orange but you can see a spectrum when you zoom out.

Well of course, that's because subspecies is roughly based on genetic populations while races is just roughly based on physical features.

Unfortunately due to breakthroughs in convergent evolution it is no longer considered sufficient to just look at physical features in order to infer genetics.

It's irrational to think otherwise, since there are intelligent and affluent black people and white people who go full trailer trash. Intellectual potential differs between individuals. The only reason you give so much attention to skin color is because it's such an obvious, superficial cue to someone who doesn't study genetics, far more so than any of the genes that would actually determine neurobiological growth.

Race isn't determined by just skin colour, its all features of a person which lead someone to determine their race by looking at them. If you saw an albino African you would not mistake him for a European with the same skin tone. Of course people are going to look for obvious cues, before I say an Asian person is Asian should I quickly run a genetics test? No. I'm sick of these edge lords on sci who let some strange ideology brainwash them, using the common definition of race, to say races don't exist.
