Is there anyone around here with a degree in physics?
What does your life look like now? Elaborate as much as you like, but I'm especially interested in your job/work life; where do you work, what do you work on etc..

thanks

Masters in particle physics. Bachelors in physics and math. I teach high school. I was employed with an engineering firm, but I was fired since I couldn't sign off on anything. I don't recommend it. You will not get a comfy teaching position. You won't solve great mysteries. You won't do anything of value, and you won't make any money either. It's the worst of both worlds.
I had a gf but she left me when I was fired. At least I see 8/10's daily.

I've read that in Europe the starting salary is high and that there's almost no unemployment for physicists, how come it turned out so badly for you?

My life looks much the same as it did before, except now I've got a physics degree and a job. My job isn't the hardest thing in the world, I work for the government doing data analysis, so I have to answer FOI requests and any queries from businesses, the ones from businesses tend to be pretty reasonable, but the FOI requests are universally retarded. So I guess that one thing that's changed since starting my degree is how I see other people, now a days when I see the average person I can't help but think "I bet you're one of those faggots who'll ask me if people are richer now than in 2008", and I won't lie I hate that.

Anyway I'm hoping to do my Masters next year because I really can't do this for the rest of my life.

I live in America, I understand engineering here is a physics degree in Europe, so that's probably why.

I'm finishing my PhD at an Aerospace agency, computational chemistry. This job is cool, but somewhat of a niche and I don't know what happens after.
I'm currently reading Kierkegaard in hope to get some perspective. Truth is I'd like to end up with some 20 hour job and keep on reading for the next 11 years.

I have a Theoretical degree in Physics. Right now I'm working with the military until someone finds out I'm unqualified and takes my job.

Why?

Assuming you don't care about money or anything, is a physics degree worth if you love physics and just want to do science?

Or should I just off myself before life disappoints and crushes me?
