4D space is impossible to visualize because humans have not frame of reference or experience with it. This is also why 3D time is incomprehensible. So then why is 2D time so easy to understand? There is no fourth dimension unless you're talking about tensors which are not what people think of when discussing dimensions. e.g the '4th dimension' in a tensor is only related to the specific vector which is only 3 dimensions. Time added to this vector does not make it 4 dimensions. In terms of a coordinate system, it's not very meaningful to talk of the fourth dimension. If you're including tensors as a relevant to dimensions, than it could be anything, temperature, colour or density.
