Like, say you have a set of variables and you want to find how they are interrelated. You do that through differential equations.

I mean, for simplicity sake, I want a function that gives me the square of itself.

but, lets say I want a function that maps any unique integer onto (and one on one) a finite set of polynomials

or some other more abstract idea like that.
I want to study it so I can get better at writing algorithms/life in general
