Hey /sci/, I never attended high school that much but still managed to graduate. Due to my truancy I only ever really excelled in English but I've come to realize, as I'm registering for my classes in Community College that science is what I really love.

My question is: Is it worth it to go for a STEM degree or should I settle for a philosophy/English degree that ultimately ends up in me just being a teacher?

If it helps any I'm specifically interested in Organic Chemistry or Astrophysics.

Yes, STEM degree is worth it. Don't go the physics route though unless you love math.

I do that's why I was considering STEM is because of the little math I've taken I've loved the "aha!" moments that come with it.

as long as they're not overshadowed by the countless hours of frustration you should do it.

Not OP. Curious, what are STEM degrees that don't involve physics? I'm looking for majors but bio or chem is absolutely not for me.

Anon you're probably not that smart and trust me, popsci is not real science. Just pick up a trade or something.

I'm pretty smart for a guy who never tried a day and his life. I mean I'm self motivated so I can learn anything I really want to.
